El Professors

El departament de música de l'IES Roquetes està format actualment per dos professors, som Guillem i Paco.

The Music Department of IES Roquetes is comprised of two teachers, we are Guillem and Paco.















Guillem és de Gandia a Valencia. Ha estudiat al Conservatori de Valencia, Joaquim Rodrigo. El seu instrument és el trombo de vara. Ha realitzat cursos de perfeccionament amb professors de talla internacional. Ha tocat amb l'Orquestra Ciutat de Granada, Orquestra Sinfonica d'Alacant, Orquestra Sinfonica de Gijon entre altres. Va començar en l'ensenyança a l'Institut Els Tarongers de Valencia durant sis anys i a l'any 2005 va tenir l'oportunitat de treballar a Catalunya. Ara és cap del Departament de Música i director de l'Orquestra STOP de l'IES Roquetes.

Guillem is from Gandia in Valencia. He studied in the Conservatory of Valencia, Joaquim Rodrigo. His preferred instrument is the trombone. He has done courses for perfecting his technique with teacher with an international standing. He has played with the Orquestra Ciutat de Granada, Orquestra Sinfonica d'Alacant and the Orquestra Sinfonica de Gijon among others. He began working in teaching in the Institut Els Tarongers in Valencia where he was for six years. In 2005 he had the chance to work in Catalunya and now he is the head of the music department and director of the orchestra STOP of IES Roquetes.
















Paco és de Tavernes de la Valldigna a Valencia. Va estudiar al conservatori de Valencia i Castellò, el seu instrument és la trompeta encara que toca tambè la bateria i la guitarra. Un cop acabat els estudis va passar 7 o 8 anys tocant en diferents grups de musica "de berbena" pels pobles i ciutats de Valencia. A la vegada tambè tocaba en "Big Bands" de jazz. Per exemple ha tocat en la Seda Jazz Big Band. A paco li agrada tocar en diferent grups, quintets, bandes etc. Ara toca amb un grup anomenat "Fingerdips". A l'any 2000 va començar en l'ensenyança treballant en molts IES diferents aqui a Catalunya. Ha treballat a Argentona al Maresme i als Pirineus. Fa cinc anys que treballa a les Terres de l'Ebre, en Amposta i a Tortosa a l'IES de l'Ebre. En el seu temps lliure a Paco li agrada molt anar d'excursió i sopar amb els seus amics.

Paco is from Tavernes in Valencia. He studied in the Conservatory of Valencia and Castellò and his preferred instrument is the trumpet although he also plays the drums and the guitar. Once he had finished his studies he went on to play for 7 or 8 years in a variety of musical groups of the "berbena" style in different cities and villages in the area of valencia. At the same time he was also playing with different "Big Bands" of jazz. He has, for example, played with the Seda Jazz Band. Paco likes playing with various types of groups, bands, quintets etc. Now he plays with a group called "Fingerdips". In 2000 he started in teaching working in many different IES in Catalunya, among them Argentona in the Maresme and also in the Pyrenees. Five years ago he started working in the Terres de l'Ebre in Amposta and in Tortosa in the IES de l'Ebre. In his free time Paco likes going on excursions and going out for meals with his friends.

A 2n d'ESO fem servir el llibre "Música 1" i "Música 2" de l'editorial Barcanova.

L'ORQUESTRA STOP - THE ORCHESTRA STOP

QUE ÉS?
L’orquestra “STOP” és una orquestra escolar formada per alumnes de tot l’IES ROQUETES.

What is it? The orchestra STOP is a school orchestra formed by students of the school IES Roquetes.

CREACIÓ
L’orquestra “STOP” va començar a funcionar el curs 2005-2006, ara ja fa 3 cursos.

Creation: The orchestra STOP started to work in 2005-2006, now just tree years ago.

MOTIUS
El motiu fonamental de la creació d’aquesta orquestra va ser i és motivar als alumnes, creant i interpretant música. Els alumnes se senten actors, músics i en definitiva protagonistes d’un espectacle que possiblement no tornaran a repetir.

Motive: The main motive for the creation of this orchestra was for the motivation of the students, creating and interpreting music. Doing this the students feel like actors, musicians and simply the main characters in a show, something which they will possibly never feel again.

NÚMERO DE COMPONENTS
El número d’alumnes que componen l’orquestra és variable, el primer any que vaig arribar a l’IES Roquetes, (Curs 2005-2006) van ser al voltant de 20-30 alumnes, el segon any, (Curs 2006-2007) van ser al voltant de 60 alumnes, i aquest any, (Curs 2007-2008) som al voltant de 90-100 alumnes.

Number of participants: The number of students that make up the orchestra is variable, in the first year when I arrived in IES Roquetes, (course 2005/6) there were around 20-30 students. In the second year, (course 2006/2007) there were then around 60 students and this year, (course 2007/2008) we are at around 90-100 students.

QUAN ASSATGEM?
Els alumnes venen a assajar a hores que no tenen classe, (els professors saben el que significa això). Crec que el més important és la il·lusió que tenen els alumnes, que es senten capaços d’interpretar obres amb certa dificultat i en definitiva, gaudir i fer gaudir de música i espectacle.

When do we rehearse? The students come to rehearse in the hours when they are not in class, (teachers know what this means) I believe that what is more important is the enthusiasm that the students have, that they feel capable of interpreting works which have a certain difficulty and, finally, enjoy and make others enjoy the music and the performance.

COMPONENTS
Està formada tant per alumnes que estudien al conservatori, com per alumnes que només has estudiat música a l’institut.

Components: We comprise students who are conservatory music students as well as students who have only studied music here a the Institute.

INSTRUMENTS
Els instruments que utilitzem son molt variats, des de instrumental Orf fins a flautes travesseres, violoncels, saxofons, clarinets, pianos... i altres instruments poc usuals...

PER QUÈ EL NOM DE “STOP”? WHY THE NAME STOP?

És una història curiosa... estàvem treballant la percussió alternativa, fer ritmes amb qualsevol cosa que pegant-li un cop sonara. Una de les activitats que vaig manar va ser que els alumnes tenien que portar qualsevol cosa, perols, utensilis de cuina... en definitiva qualsevol cosa. Un alumne... “de cuyo nombre quiero acordarme...” ...Vando, de camí a classe s’en va recordar i... amb les ferramentes i l’altura adequada va agafar prestada del carrer una senyal d’STOP. Ja tenia clar el nom de l’orquestra, desprès de proposar als alumnes aquest nom i acceptar ja el teníem...
...ORQUESTRA “STOP”

This is a curious story... we were working on alternative percussion, making rhythms with anything that when struck made a sound. One of the activities that I had asked the students to do was to bring any object, kitchen utensils, pots... really anything to class. One student... "whose name I will never forget..." ...Vando, on the way to class remembered and, having the tools and the height needed, borrowed a stop sign from the road. Thus we had the name of the orchestra, after proposing it to the students and getting their acceptance that was it...

- L'orquestra va participar en un viatge a Menorca per tocar conjuntament amb un altre grup d'una escola de Ciutadella etc. etc. Aquest viatge esta recordat en el blog que s'ha creat que es diu STOPMenorca.

- The orchestra participated in a trip to Menorca to play together with another group from a school in Ciutadella etc. This trip has been recorded in the blog that has been created and is called STOPMenorca.

- En el mes de maig 2008 STOP ha participat en la 3A Trobada Musical de les Terres de l'Ebre al teatre Felip Pedrell de Tortosa.
